In Africa, women empowerment is a real issue because women and young women are not allowed to be part of decision taking institutions just because their are female.As the participation of women in the achievement of the Agenda is very low we have noticed that this is due to:
- The lack of leadership skill
- The lack of confidence
- gender equality issue
These are the issues that I am trying to solve through SEPHIS Association
|Description of Innovation:||
The main tasks of this association are
- the training of girls in leadership,
- the fight against gender based injustices,
- the promotion of young women in the decision-making institutions.
In order to solve these issues,I have implemented a program called SEPHIS NATIONAL TOUR FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT through which I go in rural areas all over the country and give leadership and women empowerment lectures and training to girls in order for them to be aware of the potential they have.
More than 1910 young women in 7 cities of Côte d’Ivoire including rural areas have been trained during SEPHIS TOURS supported by the US Department of State.
I have also implemented a mentoring and leadership program for 24 young women which happens every year called AWF( African Women of the Future Fellowship). This fellowship identifies through a selective competition 24 young women from different places of Côte d’Ivoire, even from rural area. During 6 weeks they are trained in leadership and learn from each others. They also have pratical sessions with professionals in particular fields with whom they work on their specific projects.
My work with my association can bring closer youth and the Ivorian Authorities to think on adequate solutions regarding urgent matters for youth development and empowerment.
